Is� �Snapshots of immigrant�s life in a new city, their ambitions, struggles and identity, celebrating the fusion of Latin rhythms with Salsa Dance, Song & live percussion� Fusing visual images and Dance, the performance will take you on a journey through various rhythms, depicting, like a live photo album, the immigrant�s daily lives, inner struggles and ambitions in a modern city. A cross between Tango Passion meets Stomp meets West Side Story! We are currently in talks to confirm our Director for next year�s Tour. Concept/ Choreography Iris De Brito Music Music composed by Iris De Brito & Steve Slavin Lyrics by Iris De Brito & Alleslie Addie Traditional Cuban folkcloric songs Musical tributes to Tito Puente & Celia Cruz. Pilot Performed at Jackson�s Lane Theatre in London/Highgate in June 2006, with a total cast of 15 dancers, singers and musicians. Entirely self produced with Support in kind, it completely sold out all 3 nights to a 300 seat audience. The performance had great reviews and the response was very emotional and supportive, with all different audiences on the night. El Barrio Summer 2007 workshop This pilot however successful has uncovered a gap in the market for certain performance skills and technique not yet widely spread in current trained dancers and skilful Salsa performers. In order to bring it to a higher level a summer workshop was devised to work on some scenes of the show. It will start in July and will run until August. Please wait for further details or contact Cat, our current administrator, if you�d like to be involved. admin@elbarriothemusical.com Tour The team is currently applying for Arts funding to establish a small tour next Spring for the Midlands and London area. We�ll inform you of the results by the end of August. In order to bring it to a level of performance worth representing it needs the kind of support, and sponsorship that believes in a production, such as this, that has, not only a strong social content but also a very viable commercial aspect that will assure it�s success.
